We decided to spend some time outside this evening since the weather was pleasant. I had the bright idea of taking a walk around the block. Nathan was excited to ride his new scooter and Allie was eager to ride her bike. Phil helped Beth, who is attempting to ride her bike without training wheels, but is still scared to death to do it! (Can you sense our frustration level?) Anyhow, here's a picture of Nathan and Allie ready to get started.

Halfway around the block, Nathan decided to try a different technique on his scooter. Sitting on his bottom and pushing with his feet didn't prove to be any quicker than the usual method (which, for Nathan, is
extremely slow at this point). He is just learning and fell several times. He'd exclaim, "Oopsie! I okay. I just hurt my little bottom... or leg... or elbow." (You get the idea). And of course we had to stop and talk to every ant and snail that was visible, even if they were dead. Nathan soon gave up any scooter riding techniques altogether and I ended up carrying the scooter! I should have been timing our walk, because I'm sure we set some sort of a record. Next time just has to be faster, right? One can always hope!
