Allie's Spring Program

Allie was excited to have both of her grandmas at her program last night! That doesn't happen very often, so it was extra special. Allie had a speaking part and a singing part. In between, she enjoyed singing the songs (and chatting with her friends - and twirling her skirt!). It was very entertaining for all of us! =)

Snippets of Spring

Time is flying by - and I've been terrible at keeping up with the blog. Here's a quick peek at some of the things we've been up to...

The girls received fun sundresses from Aunt Tami - Allie had to wear hers right away! (Thanks, Tam!)

We've already been playing in the sprinklers since we had a week of high temperatures. Thankfully, the weather has cooled down significantly!

A good combination: a cuddly dog and an interesting book!

Blowing bubbles in the backyard...

Is it more fun to blow the bubbles - or to pop them?
It's hard to tell!

Quotes to Remember...

Nathan seems to be coming up with many quotes that I just don't want to forget. So writing them on my blog helps me remember them - and perhaps makes some people smile as well!
**********
While coming home from the grocery store, Nathan piped up, "You know what, Mommy? Mosquitoes are Satan's pets!" I have no idea where that came from but I really cannot argue with his logic. It does make me wonder what is going on in that little head of his!
**********
While driving home from the park with Zachary...
Nathan: I love you very much, Zachary.
Zachary: (no response)
Nathan: (after a brief pause) You're supposed to say, 'I love you too.'
Zachary: I love you too.
**********
After the two boys had a little spat, Zachary asked, "Will you still be my cousin?" Nathan responded, "I will always be your cousin! Forever and always!"
**********
Nathan had his dreaded kindergarten doctor's appointment. He handled the four shots, blood test and TB test admirably. His favorite part? Peeing in the cup. When we got home, he announced that he had to go potty. So, I told him to go! He said, "Can I tinkle in a cup?" I told him that he needed to go in the toilet - we only have to go in a cup when we go to the doctor's office. His reply? "Oh man!" He proceeded to hold out for a cup until we tried target practice with a piece of toilet paper in the toilet. Then all was well once again!
***********
Nathan's thighs have been sore from his recent immunizations. This morning he hobbled into our bedroom and announced, "Mommy, the shots turned me into an old man. I need a walking stick!"

Happy Easter!

God gave us a glorious Easter day! After a great service at church, we headed home to spend the day with Grandpa and Grandma, Ryan and Angie's family, along with Angie's parents. We had a wonderful meal and a fun Easter egg hunt. The kids found quarters in some of their eggs and were able to "shop" and purchase dollar store items that Grandpa and Grandma provided. The kids really enjoyed that! Allie recited Matthew 28:1-8 before dinner and we shared the items in our Resurrection Eggs so we could focus on the real meaning of the day. After the guys watched the end of the Master's, we played a fun game of Quiddler before calling it a day. I think it's safe to say that everyone had a great time!

Of course, we had to include a picture of Spinner...

Let the hunt begin...

Cousin Capers

Yesterday we met Deb and Jack at the park in Kingsburg. The kids had a great time playing together and we enjoyed chatting with Deb. We ended our time together by having dinner. It was a relaxing Saturday afternoon and evening for all of us.

Fun at the Park

Today we celebrated the last day of Spring break with lunch at McDonald's and fun at the park. Zachary joined us and we had a great time!

Faraway Friends

Our friends, Jane, Mia and Rachel, spent two nights with us during Spring Break. We had a great time playing, eating lunch at the park and going to Roller Towne. It's hard to believe that it's been four years since we lived across the street from each other - but we're so thankful that we've remained friends!

Author

Allie loves to write! Here she was on the driveway (wearing a bathrobe over her clothes and sporting some great costume jewelry from my Aunt Jennie) writing a story. We're never sure what she'll come up with, but just look at that concentration! She is very serious about her writing, and this time made sure she had three sections to her story - a beginning, middle and an end.

On this particular day, I also found that Allie had listed the characters, setting, problem, solution of Bolt, a movie we recently watched! She doesn't miss much - and her teacher has been doing a great job!

Hosanna in the Highest!

It can't possibly be Palm Sunday unless the little children sing and wave their palm branches in church! Both Allie and Nathan, along with the rest of the Lil' Praisers, sang in church last Sunday morning. Since I was leading the singing, I "borrowed" a few palm branches so I could capture some pictures of our kids. They are growing too fast, as usual, but oh, how I love them!

20 Minute Run

Well, here I am again, playing "catch up" with the blog. Hopefully now that I'm done with my long term sub assignment, I'll be more faithful. But we'll see!
Last Thursday, CVC had its annual 20 minute run to culminate part of the P.E. program. It was fun to walk with my mom for most of it. Allie had a great time - and so did Beth, although I don't have a picture of her! I am always amazed at the number of parents (and grandparents) that come out for each school event! What a blessing!
